How to Import a Playlist from a URL, CSV File, or Plain Text

Open Playlists in Soundiiz and select Import Playlist. Choose the option that matches your source below. If you are signed out, sign in to Soundiiz first.

Import a playlist link

Choose From Web URL, paste the share link, and start the import. The link must be accessible without signing in. Review the tracks Soundiiz reads before continuing.

A public page is not automatically a supported playlist. If your link cannot be read, try connecting the music service directly and selecting the playlist from your Soundiiz library.

For a page that contains Spotify or YouTube track links, connect the corresponding service in Soundiiz. If the page only lists song names, copy those names into From Plain Text instead.

There are also specific guides for Spinitron, QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Kugou Music, and XMPLAYLIST. Connect QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, or Kugou Music before importing one of their share links. Use the service-specific import option when one is offered, such as Setlist.fm or iTunes.

Spotify-owned playlists: editorial playlists, charts, and mixes may return “Invalid source” when imported by link. Connect Spotify and look for the playlist in your library instead. A share link does not bypass Spotify's access restrictions.

An import copies the list once. To follow future changes to a compatible source link, see Auto Sync from Share Link URL or JSON File.

Import a list of song names

Choose From Plain Text and paste one song per line. Use Artist - Title, with a space on each side of the hyphen.

Include the artist whenever possible. A title alone is less precise, especially when several recordings share a name. You can also use a supported track link or an ISRC recording code on its own line.

Numbered lists and long dashes are accepted. Two or more spaces can separate the artist and title, but the format above is easier to check. A title may contain another spaced hyphen after the artist. See the plain text import tutorial for the steps.

Import a CSV or another playlist file

Choose From File and select your file. Import one file at a time, up to 2 MB per file. These file limits also apply to paid Soundiiz accounts.

Playlist imports accept TXT, CSV, XLS and XLSX, JSON, XML, XSPF, M3U and M3U8, WPL, NML, and PLS.

For a CSV or spreadsheet, keep the column headers on the first row. For a file exported by another music tool, start with its original export. Changing only the file extension does not convert its contents.

If a file exceeds 2 MB, split it into valid smaller files and import them separately. For a CSV, keep the header row in each file. Do not split an XML or JSON file in the middle of its structure.

Review the list, then choose what to create

Check the imported titles and artists, compare the track count with your source, and remove entries you do not want to transfer. This is a review of your imported list, not the final matches in the destination catalog.

1. Create a new playlist
   Name the playlist and choose its destination.
2. Add to playlist
   Add the imported tracks to an existing playlist without replacing its contents.
3. Replace in playlist
   Replace the selected destination playlist's contents with the imported list. Use this only if you intend to remove its previous contents.

During the transfer, Soundiiz looks for matching recordings in the destination catalog. Some tracks may be unavailable there, restricted in your country, or listed differently. Check the transfer result when it finishes; a successfully read file does not guarantee that every song will match.
