Quick answer
A regular Spotify playlist can contain up to 10,000 songs.
This is different from Spotify’s other limits:
- Songs in one playlist: 10,000
- Saved songs and albums in Your Library: no fixed save limit
- Playlists per Spotify user: generally up to 11,000
- Offline downloads: up to 10,000 tracks on each of up to 5 devices
- Items added through one Spotify API request: 100
If you are transferring a playlist to Spotify with Soundiiz, use 10,000 tracks as the maximum destination playlist size.
What happens when a Spotify playlist reaches 10,000 songs?
Spotify may prevent additional songs from being added once the playlist reaches the limit.
Very large playlists can also become slower to load, edit, reorder, or shuffle. Spotify may occasionally display slightly different totals, but a playlist containing more than 10,000 items should not be considered reliable.
For predictable transfers and synchronization, keep each Spotify playlist below 10,000 tracks.
What happens when I transfer more than 10,000 songs to Spotify?
Spotify cannot reliably store more than 10,000 songs in a single playlist.
If your source playlist contains more tracks:
- Split it into several smaller playlists.
- Keep every part below 10,000 tracks.
- Transfer each part separately to Spotify.
- Review the Soundiiz transfer results after each operation.
Soundiiz includes a Split playlist tool that can divide a large playlist into smaller parts.
Depending on the destination and operation, Soundiiz may sometimes create multiple playlist parts automatically. This behavior is not available for every music service, so splitting the playlist before the transfer is the safest option.
See the playlist limits for every supported music service before transferring a large collection.
Why does Spotify’s API mention a limit of 100 items?
Spotify allows applications to add a maximum of 100 items in a single API request.
This does not mean that a playlist is limited to 100 songs. Applications such as Soundiiz create larger playlists by sending the songs in several successive requests.
For example, transferring a playlist containing 1,000 songs requires multiple Spotify API requests. This is one reason why very large playlist transfers can take longer to complete.
How many playlists can I create on Spotify?
Spotify’s developer documentation states that each user is generally limited to a maximum of 11,000 playlists.
This account-level limit is separate from the 10,000-song limit inside each playlist.
Spotify also recommends keeping the number of playlists below approximately 2,000 for better application performance. Most users will never reach the maximum, but accounts containing thousands of playlists may load or update more slowly.
Is Spotify Liked Songs limited to 10,000 songs?
No. Spotify removed the old limit on saved items in Your Library. You can continue liking and saving songs and albums beyond 10,000 items.
However, Liked Songs is a special Spotify library collection rather than a normal user-created playlist.
If you convert your Liked Songs into a regular Spotify playlist, the resulting playlist is subject to the 10,000-song playlist limit.

Is the offline download limit the same?
No. Spotify Premium allows up to 10,000 downloaded tracks on each of up to five devices.
This is an offline-storage limit. It is separate from:
- The number of songs saved in Your Library
- The number of songs inside a playlist
- The number of playlists in your account
Removing a download from a device does not remove the song from its playlist or from Your Library.
Why are fewer songs visible after a Soundiiz transfer?
A destination Spotify playlist may contain fewer tracks than the source when:
- The source playlist exceeded Spotify’s playlist limit
- Some tracks were unavailable in Spotify’s catalog
- A release was unavailable in your country
- Soundiiz could not find a sufficiently reliable match
- Spotify temporarily rejected part of the operation
- Soundiiz was connected to a different Spotify account
Review the Soundiiz transfer report to distinguish tracks that were transferred, not found, or rejected because of a platform limit.
Is Soundiiz Free also limited to 10,000 songs?
The Spotify platform limit and the Soundiiz plan limits are separate.
Soundiiz Free supports eligible playlist transfers one at a time, with up to 200 tracks per playlist. Paid plans allow larger and batch transfers, but Spotify’s maximum of 10,000 songs in one destination playlist still applies.
