Spotify has recently changed how third-party apps can stay connected to Spotify accounts.
For security and privacy reasons, Spotify access granted to apps such as Soundiiz may now expire after 6 months. When this happens, Soundiiz can no longer access your Spotify account until you reconnect it.
This change comes directly from Spotify and applies to apps using Spotify account authorization. Existing apps will be affected from July 20, 2026.
What does this mean for me?
You may occasionally be asked to reconnect your Spotify account to Soundiiz.
This does not mean that your Soundiiz account has a problem, nor that your playlists or favorites have been deleted. It simply means that Spotify requires you to confirm again that Soundiiz is allowed to access your Spotify account.
When will I need to reconnect Spotify?
You may need to reconnect Spotify:
- After around 6 months since your last Spotify authorization
- When launching a transfer, sync, or another action involving Spotify
- If Soundiiz displays an error saying that Spotify needs to be connected again
- If a scheduled sync using Spotify can no longer run
How to reconnect Spotify to Soundiiz
To reconnect Spotify:
- Open Soundiiz
- Go to your connected platforms
- Select Spotify
- Click Connect or Reconnect
- Sign in to Spotify again and authorize Soundiiz
Once done, you can continue using Spotify with Soundiiz as usual.
Will I lose my playlists or data?
No. Reconnecting Spotify does not delete your playlists, favorites, transfers, syncs, or Soundiiz account data.
It only renews the authorization between Spotify and Soundiiz, allowing Soundiiz to continue accessing your Spotify account when needed.
Why is Spotify doing this?
Spotify explains that this change is intended to ensure that access to a user’s Spotify account remains intentional and is regularly confirmed. In other words, Spotify wants users to periodically approve which apps can access their account.
What should I do if a Spotify sync fails?
If a Spotify sync or transfer fails because of this authorization change, simply reconnect Spotify to Soundiiz and try again.
For scheduled syncs, make sure your Spotify account is still connected so Soundiiz can continue running them correctly.
