Why a basic M3U file can return no tracks
A basic M3U file may contain only a local path made from a drive letter and filename inside one or more folders. That path exists on your computer, but Soundiiz runs in the cloud and cannot use it to open or identify the audio file.
Use a metadata-rich playlist format
Export the playlist again as one of these formats:
MediaMonkey and Mp3tag are examples of tools that can help inspect or correct metadata before you create a new file.
Check the Plex or Emby library
-
Confirm that the audio is already in the destination library
Soundiiz can create a playlist from media Plex or Emby already knows; it cannot upload a missing audio file. -
Inspect the artist and title fields
Replace values such as Unknown Artist and correct obvious spelling or tagging differences. -
Refresh the library, then import again
Let Plex or Emby finish scanning the updated metadata before repeating the Soundiiz import.
For broader matching problems, use the wrong and missing matches guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the M3U work in a local player but not in Soundiiz?
The local player can follow paths on your device. Soundiiz cannot reach those paths and instead needs recognizable artist and title metadata.
Will Soundiiz upload missing files to Plex or Emby?
No. The audio must already be available and indexed in the Plex or Emby library.
Can a track still fail when its artist and title look correct?
Yes. The destination may expose different metadata or may not have finished indexing the file. Refresh its library and compare the exact values it displays.
