New, Pending, In progress: what you are looking at
Starting a transfer creates a batch, which is the whole job, and the batch contains one line per playlist. The batch and the playlists inside it have their own status, and they rarely say the same thing at the same moment.
Why the percentage stays at 0%
The progress bar counts playlists, not tracks. A playlist moves the bar once, when it is completely done, whether it holds twelve tracks or four thousand. With three playlists you will see 0%, then 33%, then 66%, then 100%, and nothing in between.
This is why a transfer can look frozen while it is at its busiest: the playlist is being matched track by track, and none of that work shows up until the whole playlist lands.
Should I cancel and start again?
No, and starting again usually makes the wait longer: the new batch goes to the back of the queue while the first one was already being processed. Canceling stops the playlists that are still Pending, but the one already In progress finishes anyway. A cancel never gives you an instant clean slate.
The one thing worth doing is waiting for the email. It is sent when the batch is really over, and it is the only reliable signal that the work is done.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long should I wait before worrying?
Long enough for the email to arrive. A few dozen tracks are usually done in minutes, a library of several thousand can take hours, and both look identical on the progress bar while they run. The email is the end of the job, so waiting for it is not patience, it is the only measurement you have. For an order of magnitude, How Long Does a Music Transfer Take? gives typical durations by library size.
Do I have to leave the page open?
No. The transfer runs on our servers, not in your browser, so closing the tab, quitting the app or turning off your computer changes nothing.
The email arrived, but I see nothing on the destination
Give the destination platform a few minutes and refresh its app. Checking before the email is always too early, the data has not been refreshed on the destination platform yet.
Why do my favorites appear only at the very end?
Favorite additions are made once the matching of the whole category is over, so they land in one go at the end rather than trickling in.
