Important: deleting duplicate tracks modifies the original playlist. This operation cannot be undone by Soundiiz, so create a backup copy first if you may want to restore its previous tracklist.
How to delete duplicate tracks
Step 1: Connect the music service
Sign in to Soundiiz and connect the platform containing the playlist.
You must connect the correct music account and have permission to edit the playlist.
Step 2: Open your playlists
Under Your Library, select Playlists.
Wait for Soundiiz to load the latest playlists from the connected music services.
Step 3: Select the playlist
Find the playlist containing duplicate songs.
The playlist must be owned by you or editable through the music service’s API. Followed, editorial, generated or read-only playlists may not support track deletion.
Step 4: Start the duplicate cleanup
Open the playlist’s three-dot menu or right-click it, then select Delete duplicate tracks.
Soundiiz displays a confirmation before changing the playlist.
Step 5: Confirm the deletion
Check the playlist name and music service carefully, then confirm Delete duplicate tracks.
The process may take several minutes for a large playlist because Soundiiz must retrieve the tracklist, detect repeated entries and send the required deletion requests to the music platform.

How does Soundiiz identify duplicate songs?
Detection depends on the information provided by the connected music service.
Soundiiz generally uses:
- The music service’s track or video identifier
- Track title
- Artist
- Album
- Other metadata available through the platform API
Soundiiz does not compare audio files.
Different releases of the same song—such as a live version, remix, remaster, radio edit or deluxe-edition track—may be treated as separate items when their identifiers or metadata differ.
The exact occurrence retained and its final position may vary by music service.
Can it remove duplicates from Spotify and other services?
Yes, when the connected service allows Soundiiz to retrieve and delete playlist tracks.
Compatibility depends on the operations exposed by each music service. Some services allow playlists to be read but do not allow individual tracks to be deleted through their API.

Why is “Delete duplicate tracks” missing?
The option may be unavailable when:
- Your Soundiiz plan does not include the tool
- The playlist is followed or read-only
- You are not the playlist owner
- The music service is disconnected
- The platform API does not support deleting playlist tracks
- The playlist is generated automatically by the music service
- Soundiiz cannot retrieve the complete playlist
- The playlist exceeds a platform-specific processing limit

Can Soundiiz prevent duplicates during a transfer?
When the option is available, enable Delete duplicate tracks while configuring the destination playlist.
Soundiiz will then try to keep only one occurrence of each detected track in the destination playlist after the transfer.

Does this delete duplicate playlists?
No. Delete duplicate tracks removes repeated songs inside one playlist.
Duplicate copies of an entire playlist are a different issue. If Soundiiz detects several playlists with the same title and track count, it may display a separate Clean up duplicates option in the Playlists view.
Review those playlists carefully before deleting them: duplicate-playlist detection is based on the title and track count, and deletion is permanent.
Will Soundiiz delete songs from my library?
No. The tool removes additional occurrences from the selected playlist only.
It does not remove the song from your Liked Songs, saved tracks, albums or other playlists unless the music service itself applies a different behavior.
