What Soundiiz keeps
Why folders are not transferred
Music-service APIs expose playlists as separate objects, but folder information is often unavailable, read-only, or represented differently from one service to another. Soundiiz therefore has no reliable source hierarchy to reproduce at the destination.
Soundiiz also does not provide its own folder layer. The playlist list is independent of the folders you may see in Spotify, Roon, a DJ application, or a local media manager.
Ways to preserve some organization
-
Add the folder name to playlist titles
For example, rename Morning to Work: Morning before transferring it. -
Transfer one folder group at a time
This makes it easier to rebuild the folder manually at the destination after each group finishes. -
Recreate folders in the destination app
If that service supports folders, create them there and move the transferred playlists into place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will all playlists inside a folder still transfer?
They can be transferred as individual playlists when the source service exposes them. The folder that groups them is not included.
Can Soundiiz create folders at the destination?
No. Create the folders in the destination app, then place the transferred playlists in them manually.
Does exporting playlists to a file preserve folders?
No. Each exported playlist file contains its own tracklist, not the surrounding folder hierarchy.
